LEKI is set to redefine the electric motorcycle market with Australia’s most affordable, locally designed and assembled electric motorcycle offered as part of a distinctive e-commerce and boutique showroom experience.
With the two-wheeler electric mobility market in Australia forecast to reach $480m by 2029[1], LEKI offers a unique blend of stylish design and cutting-edge electric power all at an unprecedented price point.
Cain Cooke, responsible for leading some of the nation’s most successful retail brands including Boost Juice and Specsavers, is the CEO and co-founder behind LEKI, which officially opened its first boutique showroom in South Australia this month.
“We saw a clear gap in Australia’s two-wheeler electric mobility market for an affordable and stylish bike which still delivered on performance, and appealed to a broader audience beyond motorcycle enthusiasts,” said Cain.
In line with industry trends that estimate 30 percent of buyers now plan to purchase their next vehicle entirely online, LEKI has had great success through its digital presence alone.
“Online growth is a sign of where the automotive industry is headed, more than ever before people are searching for a seamless digital journey that brings to life the quality, benefits and lifestyle you are investing in when you buy a product.
“Similarly, our first showroom in Adelaide’s CBD, is a new low-pressure experience that gives people the opportunity to see, touch and feel the bikes outside of traditional motorbike showrooms which can be quite complex and somewhat intimidating. We are hoping to replicate this showroom model in several other states,” said Cain.
With an estimated 546kg of CO2 saved annually per bike, based on average travel of just over 5,000km per year, LEKI will also bring future sustainability and a positive impact on Australia’s carbon footprint.
“Globally we are seeing increased demand in the two-wheeler electric mobility market as consumers turn their attention to eco-friendly vehicles. At LEKI we want to lead the mass adoption of electric two wheelers in Australia, by providing an affordable solution for urban commuters with future sustainability at the forefront as well as ongoing investment in product technology and development,” added Cain.
Designed and assembled in Australia, LEKI’s unique speed to market model offers consumers a national 2-to-5-day delivery timeframe, with the 57-part modular constructed bikes assembled in their northern Adelaide based workshop in as little as 60 minutes.
“With LEKI motorcycles already appearing on Australian roads, we are pleased by the response, with reliability and a solid fit reported by riders. We are also seeing uptake and interest from a wide audience, including women and eco conscious urban commuters, a sign that more people are ready to embrace the future of electric motorcycles,” said Cain.
Led by co-founders Cain Cooke and Fairlie Delbridge, LEKI offers full-sized electric motorcycles from RRP $7,999 and low running costs of approximately $2.33 per 100km.
